Spider web.

I went spider web hunting yesterday, as it was foggy. I love it when there is mist in the morning, as it makes the world a magical place. When the mist catches onto the web it looks like tiny diamonds, just hanging there. It always amazes me how many webs there are, as normally you don’t notice them. Until you accidentally walk into them, of course. At least on foggy days there is a warning that spiders are about.

There is a very interesting article on the BBC website, which explains about spider webs and how the water droplets form on the threads to look like jewels. When the silk fibres get wet, they shrink and smooth out and force the  water towards the bumpy knots that the spider has made. Very interesting…
